"Speak to Me"
SE Singles Conference
By Nicole Bobo
AMAZING, IMPACTING, and LIFE CHANGING are just three words to sum up the 2006 South East Singles Conference. The Atlanta churches hosted this conference at the Sheraton Hotel in Downtown Atlanta over Labor Day weekend. Brothers and sisters from various states came together with a unified heart to worship and grow in their relationship with God. The weekend began with on Friday night with amazing singing by the choir and a dance by the brother and sisters from Atlanta. Richard Alawaye preached a powerful lesson entitled "The Lord is calling you". His message reminded us that God is constantly calling us to holiness and faith. Saturday was an event filled day with a message that morning from Douglas Arthur entitled "Speak Lord, for your servant is listening". The women had the privilege of hearing from Sarah Alawaye. Sarah's class was powerful and emphasised the importance of obedience and how dying to yourself is a crucial part of obedience. The afternoon was focused on separate men and women's classes. Several other breakout sessions covered topics such as surrendance, dating, spiritual friendships, bible study, evangelism, finances, single parenting, households, and serving. The classes were taught by evangelists as well as brothers and sisters from the south east states. Douglas Jocaby gave an insightful lesson about areas that singles need to work on. Some of which being spiritual habits, debt, being reliable, health, and character. Saturday night was a relaxing evening of dancing, spoken word, karaoke, and chillin' out at the Hawaiian themed party. To end the weekend, a congregational church service was held and Douglas Arthur once again "slung the heat" and preached from Job 33 a sermon entitled "Speak Lord". At the end of the service it was obvious that everyone left the weekend encouraged, impacted and changed. Singles across the south east are ready to go back to their congregations and serve with new hearts.
