October kicks off with 2 baptisms!
The Sunday service on October 1st was one of the most amazing church services I have ever been a part of. The Greater Atlanta Church of Christ joined in fellowship with the Stone Mountain Church of Christ and the All Nations Church of Christ. The angels rejoiced with us as two souls were baptized into Christ during the service. Ibrahim Kargbo and Jen Speer made the good confession that Jesus is Lord before being buried in the waters of baptism.
Ibrahim is a student at Clark Atlanta University. He is now the only brother on that campus and is already striving to build the CAU ministry. Even before we met him, he was reading his bible daily throughout the whole summer on his search for God. It’s amazing how much of a different man Ibrahim is now that he has been baptized and received the gift of the Holy Spirit. “Heem”, as we like to call him, fought through many temptations and proved time and time again to have the heart of a disciple by picking himself up and trying again every time. Another challenge he had was that he grew up with a Muslim. The brothers stuck in there with him as he continued to read the scriptures and study things out for himself. Now Ibrahim is preaching boldly that Jesus is Lord and that there is no other way to heaven but through Christ. Clark Atlanta better watch out because there is now a true soldier for Christ shining like the noonday sun on campus.
Jen Speer is now the only sister on the campus of Atlanta Christian College, but not for long. One of the sisters, Jen Case, works with her and reached out to her at one of the toughest times in her life. Case was there to love her, serve her and study the scriptures with her when she needed it the most. Her heart for God and humility to the scriptures proved to be genuine as she let go of her own traditions and beliefs to follow the bible. Now, Speer is more fired up than ever as she is preaching the Word to her friends at school and at her job. There has now been three disciples baptized from the restaurant they work at in the past year and a half…and there are more on the way!
Keep praying for all the young Christians that they will grow and mature spiritually and will finish the race marked out for them. Check out the pictures at the bottom of the page.
