Founded in 1837, Atlanta is the Capital city of the southeast, a city of the future with strong ties to it's past. The old that remains within Atlanta is the soul of the city. In the turbulent 60's, Atlanta was "the city too busy to hate." And today, in the 21st Century, Atlanta is the "city not too busy to care". Committed to being our best…we value kindness, graciousness, environment, dignity, respect, diversity and compassion.
For more than four decades Atlanta has been linked to the civil rights movement, where leaders moved forward, as visionaries for a new south! They believed in peace, and made many sacrifices for that peace. In the past two decades Atlanta has experienced unprecedented growth -- the official city population remains steady, at about 420,000, but the metro population has grown in the past decade by nearly 40%, from 2.9 million to 4.1 million people!
Looking for something to do? Atlanta's attractions are known the world over, parks, shopping, museums, and entertainment are everywhere! Our Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) provides bus service to over 125 routes and shuttle service to several attractions.
