Well Said My Evangelist!

It is with great humility and excitement we announce the appointment of Angel Maldonado in the role of Evangelist for the Greater Atlanta Church of Christ. For the past five years God has blessed me with the joy of training and teaching him how to serve the church in an effective manner. What a joy it has been to work with Angel! He has embraced the call of God and helped numerous souls to be added to the kingdom and many more strengthened in their walk with God. Currently, along with the help of his beautiful wife, Christina, they have seen their campus ministry grow from 8 to over 50 disciples! Not only have they baptized but they have kept the people faithful and now Angel is training his own leadership group. To God be all the glory!

In addition to being abundantly fruitful, there are several other attributes that immediately come to mind as I think of Angel. One being his willingness to learn, which is very similar to the spirit Timothy had in regards to Paul's training. "And the things that you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others." (2 Timothy 2:2) In order for one to be effective teacher, he must be an effective learner.

I stated in front of the church during his appointment, " Angel is not perfect, however his life is deserving of the role of evangelist." Below I have included the biblical qualifications one must have to effectively fulfill the role. I pray this study will inspire and encourage other young men to submit their lives to God's will. While there are many elders and teachers, we must not negate or devalue the role God positioned in His church. I believe leadership is a team effort and an effective team needs a point man helping the church to stay outward focused as they strive to complete the commission that Jesus left. This is the responsibility of God's man, an evangelist.
